Reflection or Insights in Personal Traits

 When we talk about personal traits it is the dimensions of personality which are used to describe human personality. Traits are distinguishing qualities or characteristics of a person. Traits are a readiness to think or act in a similar fashion in response to a variety of different stimuli or situations. In general, trait theory assumes that people differ on variables or dimensions that are continuous. People are seen to differ in the amounts or quantities of a characteristic rather than differ in the quality of their characteristics. There are five factors of personality. And these are openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and neuroticism.
I can relate myself in the first personality factor, where is openness which means it is a general appreciation for art, emotion, adventure, unusual ideas, imagination, curiosity, and variety of experience. The trait distinguishes imaginative people from down-to-earth, conventional people. People who are open to experience are intellectually curious, appreciative of art, and sensitive to beauty. They tend to be, compared to closed people, more creative and more aware of their feelings. They are more likely to hold unconventional beliefs. People with low scores on openness tend to have more conventional, traditional interests. They prefer the plain, straightforward, and obvious over the complex, ambiguous, and delicate. They may regard the arts and sciences with suspicion or even view these endeavors as uninteresting. In fact I’m fan of art, I can draw slight, and we all know that our Almighty God gave us different ability or talent. When we talk about emotion I am also sensitive person. And I we all know that have this but in a different manner.
The tendency to show self-discipline, act obediently, and aim for achievement is conscientiousness. The trait shows a preference for planned rather than spontaneous behavior. It influence the way in which we control, regulate, and direct our impulses, and this called conscientiousness. Refer to us we want to fulfill or achieve our individual dream in life. But before we can do it we should alarm in our self-discipline or behavior to what we do.
When we talk about positive emotions and the tendency to seek out stimulation and the company of others is extraversion. The trait is marked by pronounced engagement with the external world. Extraverts enjoy being with people, and are often apparent as full of energy. Seek model and enjoy the company of other people. Be compassionate and cooperative rather than doubtful and violent towards others is called agreeableness. The trait reflects individual differences in general concern for social harmony. Agreeable to individual’s value getting along with others. They are generally considerate, friendly, generous, helpful, and willing to compromise their interests with others. Agreeable people also have an optimistic view of human nature. They believe people are basically honest, decent, and trustworthy. Relating to business we need this kind of behavior. Relating to us as the employer of the company we must know the characteristic of our employee if he/she is an honest or trustworthy person. We can trust them especially in their obligations as an employee to our company.
Negative emotions like, anger, anxiety, or depression is sometimes called emotional insecurity. Those who score high in neuroticism are emotionally reactive and vulnerable to stress. They are more likely to interpret ordinary situations as threatening, and minor frustrations as hopelessly difficult. Their negative emotional reactions tend to persist for unusually long periods of time, which means they are often in a bad mood. These problems in emotional regulation can diminish the ability of a person scoring high on neuroticism to think clearly, make decisions, and cope effectively with stress. For example when were in the situation that our company or our decisions was failed in last, we must not give up. We should always think that we can strive it.
Last July 28, 2010 our facilitator gathered personal traits test and I already thought that it will measure our characteristics. When I saw what the content of the test, it has a situation which is all about entrepreneur that was based when if we are in the situation. And while choosing which situation is best for me it’s already put in my mind that this test will feature what we’ll be in the future if we have the capacity to handle a business or for being an entrepreneur. After we have taken the test our facilitator gave the result of the test that we’ve taken. And I’ve got the score of 43 which means somewhat entrepreneur someday, and I’m happy because I have the ability to become an entrepreneur someday. Which entrepreneurship is the act of being an entrepreneur, which means "one who undertakes innovations, finance and business acumen in an effort to transform innovations into economic goods".
Based on the test that we’ve taken it has many ideas that we can contribute if we will become entrepreneur or technopreneur someday. Like how to be a good entrepreneur, but me as an IT student I’ll choose being a technopreneur. Technoprenuership means entrepreneurship in the field of technology. It is the key to earn money through technology. And it also not easy, because in this kind of industry or business we can’t always assure to our self and business that we always on the top and always the best because there are also other people who are hungry for success in this kind of industry. Because as what I’ve observed today, there are many technopreneur succeed. And I want to become them also someday. There are good situation in the test that we can apply someday. Like how to earn more money, how to manage our own business, to handle employees and many more to become a successful entrepreneur. But being an entrepreneur it is not easy because there are times that we may fail especially in making decisions. Sometimes there are problems that we encounter. But we must not surrender; we must strive to all the problems and make solution of it. We should always think positive and make decisions that can make good to our business.
Nowadays technoprenuership is not new in our life cycle. When we talk about technoprenuership it is the combination of technology and entrepreneurship which means business through technology. Technoprenuership is the key to earn money with the help of technology.
By this kind of business many people wants to become a technopreneur and I am the one who wants it. As what I’ve observed many of technopreneur was succeed by this kind of business. And technopreneur is an entrepreneur who is technology pioneering, dares to be different and take the unexplored path, and very passionate about their work. They take challenges and strive to lead their life with greater success. As what I’ve said they don't fear to fail. They take failure as a learning experience. Technoprenuers continuously go through an organic process of continual improvement and always try to redefine the dynamic digital economy. And this is the why I’m inspired to become a technopreneur. Like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates in the movie of “Pirates of the Silicon Valley” and we all know that they are some of the successful technopreneur that we admired because of their best inventions like computer and for being intelligence.
So, to be an employer you don't need outstanding interpersonal skills, to be good looking, tall, well built, charismatic, a great speaker, highly outgoing or dynamic. Think of the computer techie who leads the field in a specialized software market only by being an outstanding innovator. Also, many leaders do not happen to manage people, so the usual list of people development skills cannot apply to all leaders either. To become a leader, start by finding something new to get excited about. Your excitement will influence people even if you are not normally very influential. To become a good businessman we should have this traits Willingness to stand out, differentiate you risk rejection by being different, a dose of rebelliousness. Determination and perseverance to push through own ideas, desire to find the better ways of doing things, curiosity where is improvement. Not accepting authority, willingness to challenge the status quo. Believing that you can think for yourself and devise a better way, being able to withstand criticism and recover from setbacks. And last being prepared to try things to find what works or learning from mistakes.
Aside of Personal traits, we also had taken the adversity quotient which means the most scientifically robust and widely used method in the world for measuring and strengthening human resilience. Top leaders, industry-leading companies, and governments worldwide use AQ to enhance or transform. AQ response is comprised of four CORE dimensions. Understanding them is the first step toward improving your response to adversity, expanding your capacity, and, ultimately, increasing your overall AQ. Letter C means control, those with higher AQs perceive they have significantly more control and influence in adverse situations than do those with lower AQs. Even in situations that appear overwhelming or out of their hands, those with higher AQs find some facet of the situation they can influence. Those with lower AQs respond as if they have little or no control and often give up. Next is letter O which is ownership, accountability is the backbone of action. Those with higher AQs hold themselves accountable for dealing with situations regardless of their cause. Those with lower AQs deflect accountability and most often feel victimized and helpless. Letter R is reach, keeping the fallout under control and limiting the reach of adversity is essential for efficient and effective problem solving. Those with higher AQs keep setbacks and challenges in their place, not letting them infest the healthy areas of their work and lives. Those with lower AQs tend allowing a setback in one area to bleed into other, unrelated areas and become destructive. Last but not the least letter E which represents endurance, seeing beyond even enormous difficulties is an essential skill for maintaining hope. Those with higher AQs have the uncanny ability to see past the most interminable difficulties and maintain hope and optimism. Those with lower AQs see adversity as dragging on indefinitely, if not permanently.
After taking the AQ test I got the score of 152 which is the average ARP score is 147.5 and I got the higher than the average ARP score. Our facilitator also told us to take the EQ or emotional quotient and IQ or Intelligent quotient. Adversity Quotient (AQ) is a measure of how you respond to adversity (change and challenges). It provides the tools for improving how you respond and thus overall professional effectiveness. Adversity Quotient is learned: rewire your brain for success. It is the difference between pessimism and optimism. An Intelligence Quotient test measures one's current educational aptitude, or IQ. Intelligence tests usually include several types of activities measuring language based reasoning, visual-special reasoning, problem solving, logic, and awareness of common social realities.
But Personal Traits and Adversity Quotient only I had already taken. As of my observation with this of kind assessment it helps us to see or discover our capacity or ability of being an entrepreneur. Being an entrepreneur we must manage ourselves more effectively - assertiveness, self-esteem, career development, self-development, anger control, stress tolerance, coping with personal transitions, making decisions. We must face and solve the problem that we encounter, be not close minded to what will happen. And I learned that the key of personal traits to become a successful entrepreneur are the ability to compromise, you have to be able to appreciate many different points of view. A customer demand, for example might seem unreasonable, but by accommodating a point of view unlike your own, might bring an insight that benefits your company. Need to take a long view seeing how something benefits you in the short term without considering the long term effects will result in missed opportunities. I had a horrible difficulty in a construction contract where I could have justifiably charged the other party. I instead negotiated a less than ideal settlement, but instead preserved my business relationship which continues to bring profitable business. Confidence, if you expect others believe in you, you must believe in yourself, the knowledge, organization, integrity, services, sharing your success and knowledge with others by mentoring. And the most is giving time and money to your family and community.
